View a patient's profile

Overview

This flow describes how to open the profile of a patient in Care. The profile shows the patient's demographic, contact, and clinical information in tabs.

Pre-requisites

  • The patient is registered in Care.
  • You find the patient through a search, or you open the patient from an Encounter, an Appointment, or another clinical record of that patient.
  • You have the permissions listed below.

Permissions

Can view clinical data about patientsOpen the patient's profile and the Clinical History tab.
Can list patientsSee the Encounters tab. A permission to list encounters also gives this access.
Can view questionnaire responses on patientSee the Questionnaire Updates tab.
Permission to view appointmentsSee the Appointments tab.

Note: Some deployments relax the check for clinical data. Your access to the profile can depend on your deployment's configuration.

Steps

1. Open the patient

Find the patient. Use the steps in Search for a patient.

Select the patient in the search results. Care opens the patient's profile.

You can also open the profile from a patient's Encounter, Appointment, or other clinical record.

2. Read the patient's information

The profile shows the patient's information in tabs. Select a tab to read that information.

General InfoThe patient's core demographic and contact details.
Additional DetailsThe address, geo-organization, blood group, deceased status, and similar information.
IdentifiersThe identifiers configured for the patient.
Patient TagsThe labels attached to the patient record.
Insurance DetailsThe patient's insurance information.
Social ProfileThe patient's social information.
Volunteer ContactThe users assigned to support this patient in the field, for example volunteers.

3. Open the other tabs

Care shows more tabs when you have the necessary permissions.

Note: Which of these tabs you see depends on your permissions.

  • Care shows the patient's profile.
  • You read the patient's information in the tabs that your permissions allow.
