Edit or retire a catalog entry
Overview
This flow describes how to change the details of a product catalog entry, and how to retire an entry that your facility no longer uses.
Pre-requisites
- Someone added the catalog entry to the product catalog of your facility.
- You have the permissions listed below.
Permissions

Facility Admin and Admin have this permission.
Steps
1. Open the product catalog
- Go to the facility.
- Click Settings.
- Click Product Knowledge.
2. Open the catalog entry
- Find the entry that you want to change.
- Click the entry to open it.
3. Edit the details
- Click Edit.
- Change the fields that you want to update.

| Name | The name of the product. |
| Slug | The short reference for the product. |
| Product Type | The type of the product. |
| Category | The category of the product. |
| Code | The code of the product. |
| Base Unit | The unit that Care uses to count the product. |
| Status | The current state of the catalog entry. |
| Alternate Identifier | An additional identifier for the product. |
| Alternate names | Other names for the same product. |
| Storage guidelines | The storage instructions for the product. |
Note: Which fields are mandatory depends on your deployment's configuration.
4. Save the changes
- Save the entry.
5. Retire the entry
Care does not remove a catalog entry. If you no longer use a product, retire the entry.
- Open the catalog entry.
- Click Delete.
- Care sets the Status of the entry to Retired.
Expected Outcome
- The catalog entry shows the updated details.
- A retired entry has the status Retired, and stays in the catalog.
