Create a token
Overview
This flow describes how to give a token to a patient in Care. The token places the patient in a queue, and staff call the patient in order. See Token.
Pre-requisites
- The patient is registered in Care.
- A token category is created for the facility. See Create a token category.
- You have the permissions listed below.
Permissions

| Can list token category on Facility | Lets you select a token category. |
Steps
1. Start a new token
Select Create Token. Care opens the Create Token panel.
2. Select the resource
Select the resource type, then select the resource. The resource is a practitioner, a location, or a healthcare service.
3. Select the category
Select the Category for the token.
If the facility has no category, the panel shows the message "No categories found". Create a category first.
4. Add a note
Enter a Note if you need one. This is optional.
5. Save the token
Select Create Token. Care shows a message that the token is created.
Expected Outcome
- Care gives the patient a token number in the queue for the resource.
- The token appears in the queue with the status Created.
